Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program

New TBRA program to provide rental assistance for Clarksville residents

CLARKSVILLE, TN - Clarksville residents can now apply for vital rental assistance, thanks to a new Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program offered by the City of Clarksville office of Neighborhood and Community Services (CNCS) in partnership with United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region. TBRA is a program through which qualifying low-income families or individuals would be eligible to have a majority of their rent covered, based on HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) guidelines.

A community effort

Recipients of the TBRA program will have access to wraparound services such as credit recovery assistance, mental health support, and affordable medical care. Services will be provided through partnerships with local organizations such as the Matthew Walker Clinic, Soldiers and Families Embraced (SAFE), and the Adult Literacy Council, to name a few. Through this holistic approach, the overall program objective is for recipients to become self-sufficient and more empowered than when they began the program.

According to United Way CEO Valerie Guzman, the program is intended to give families the boost they need to find success over the long term. 

“This program will provide for our low to moderate-income families some much-needed temporary relief from the housing prices we are currently experiencing,” said Mayor Joe Pitts. “I am grateful to the United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region and Valerie Guzman for helping us get this relief out as quickly as possible.”
