Sustainability Board

The City finds that a "Sustainable Community" should have the general goals of stewardship and preservation of natural resources, minimizing use of materials or processes that cause pollution, maximizing use of renewable naural material resources and efficient renewable energy, and the exercise of environmental prudence.

Establishment of such a board will focus the City's efforts to become a measurably "Sustainable Community" by:

  1. Raising awareness and education for City officials, employees and the public regarding sustainability concepts, ideas, trends, benefits and costs.
  2. Developing and providing educational materials, input into City plans, policies, and operations, pertaining to sustainability initiatives, programs, and actions.
  3. Identifying opportunities for improvement.
  4. Developing and proposing specific and measurable sustainability goals and objectives.
  5. To study, develop and recommend standards by which to measure progress toward achieving sustainability goals and objectives.
